As a learning community we seek to create, and maintain, a positive caring atmosphere throughout the School in which students flourish and develop. An environment that encourages independent, as well as collaborative learning, and which arouses both curiosity and creativity.
Increasingly, the role of quality teachers is recognised as the critical variable in facilitating learning, and thereby, achieving excellence.
The School seeks to attract and retain highly qualified and highly motivated teachers. Moreover, the School is committed to the Professional Development of all staff. Seminars and Conferences incorporating both South American and International experts in their fields are a part of this cycle of Professional Learning. Professional Development, in turn, is guided by the appraisal of teachers' performance. More than half of the School's IB teachers are IB Examiners. Many are Senior Examiners and IB Workshop Leaders. Several staff members have taken part in the process of school accreditation for both the Council for International Schools (CIS) and the Latin American heads Conference (LAHC), in the belief that exposure to such school evaluations can but result in them returning to The British Schools with more critical awareness of what makes a school excellent. The CIS Visiting Team Report of 2011 praised The British Schools teachers and staff for their sense of loyalty, commitment and School Spirit. Such loyalty, commitment and School Spirit are ingredients that, combined with the endless enthusiasm of our students and the collaborative support of our families and alumni, make The British Schools a unique and very special educational community.
The learning community of The British Schools strives for excellence in a variety of contexts. Academic results are excellent. In the sporting arena there has been a consistent increase in participation rates, and student passion for sports is mirrored in excellent results in several disciplines. Similarly, the Arts flourish at The British Schools, where the flagship annual musical is but the tip of a creative iceberg. As a learning community we seek to create, and maintain, a positive caring atmosphere throughout the School in which students flourish and develop. An environment that encourages independent, as well as collaborative learning, and which arouses both curiosity and creativity.
